"Come follow me, Jesus said, and I will make you fishers of men."
In Midland, Texas in 1991, with a group of community leaders who were dedicated, Christ-centered individuals, Don founded Heritage Counseling Services. Its mission was simple - to help hurting individuals and families in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico. As of the end of 2006, Heritage Counseling has served thousands of individuals and families, and its counselors have spoken at hundreds of schools, churches, retreats and professional conferences. As Executive Director, Don performed a variety of roles, including counseling individuals and families, adults and teens suffering from a variety of issues. He also trained and developed Small Group Leaders for churches and agencies who were desiring to build supportive small group environments. During the 1990s, Don also served as President of the Christian Counselors of Texas, which is affiliated with the American Association of Christian Counselors. The mission remains to provide for the physical, mental, relational and spiritual health of individuals, families and communities in Texas and in the rest of the world. Though often dealing with the most serious of problems, Don believes that God is not blind to our needs, and is not nearly as troubled as we are about them. Don frequently uses humor in his counseling and presentations believing that " a merry heart doeth good like a medicine." Don has appeared on both local and national television shows several times for Christian counseling issues. Most recently, he appeared on several American television programs including PBS's Frontline, as well as French and German television programs on the faith of George W. Bush. Don is available to speak to churches, schools and businesses on a wide variety of entertaining, educational and motivational topics.

Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.
God tells us to not be afraid many times in scripture. But who among us is never afraid? Sometimes it takes another human being to validate our humanness, and then we can approach the Divine throne of Grace with boldness and confidence. God tells we can. He wants us to! I don't know why another human being seems to make it better . . . when our heavenly Father is just a prayer away. Sometimes, they just do. I believe He put us here together, because He knew that about us.

For it is God's kindness that calls us to repentance.

The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the the words of this law.
This scripture used to be abused by us in Men's Community Bible study. Jim Sale first said it to us after one of his trips with Arthur Blessitt. But we soon adopted it and it answers a lot of those daddy questions that end with, "When you are older you'll know better."
For God gave you not a spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind.

My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my father's hand.
"A stone that makes men stumble and a rock that makes them fall." "He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth."
